Pro Tip Regenerating your

Pro Tip Regenerating your water softener system •When your water filtration system is regenerating, the water will bypass the unit. •Avoid using hot water when the water softener or refiner is regenerating, as your hot water heater will refill with untreated water. •If you are experiencing hard water sometimes, but not all the time, your system might be regenerating at an improper time. Check the softener display to be sure the current time is set correctly. Also check the scheduled recharge time. If you need assistance, refer to your owner's manual or contact your dealer. If the times on the display are accurate and you are still experiencing problems, call your EcoWater Pro and notify them of the problem. •If you are running out of soft water at inconvenient times, talk to your EcoWater Pro. You might need the regeneration cycle to be scheduled more frequently.

The city treats my water

The city treats my water so it's safe to drink. What more do I need? The quality of your home's water may meet local standards, but it might not meet your own. Reverse osmosis drinking water purification systems are usually used in the kitchen, where you are most apt to get your drinking water, and where you prepare all of your food and beverages. You need the healthiest and best tasting water available. Also, the methods used to treat municipal water – including chlorine – could be impacting the smell and taste of your mixed beverages and your cooking. A drinking water system provides bottled water quality, without the bottled water price paid at the store and at the recycling center. www.alaskaecowater.com

My water tastes fine

My water tastes fine. Why would I need a drinking water system? Ordinary tap water can contain dissolved metals, such as iron or lead. It might contain chlorine, nitrates and mineral salts. Or it could have sulfates, mercury, asbestos or arsenic in it. A reverse osmosis water treatment system from EcoWater reduces more than 95% of dissolved solids, including many harmful contaminants. www.alaskaecowater.com

Pro Tip My remote display

Pro Tip My remote display shows question marks instead of numbers. Make sure the water softener (or refiner) is receiving power. Assuming the softener is getting power, it might be the strength of the signal to the remote. Try moving the remote to different locations in your home. Is the water in my house

Is the water in my house is safe to drink? - We can test your water http://qoo.ly/bzfvq It's not easy. You can rely on your senses to alert you to a few of the more unappetizing things that spill into your drinking glass — like sulfur, with its distinctive rotten-egg smell, or too much chlorine. The Water Quality Association offers an interactive Diagnose Your Drinking Water tool on its Web site, which can help you figure out why your tap water smells like rotten eggs, tastes like salt, or spots your glasses. Advice is also available on how to treat a problem once you've identified it. But some of the most serious — and most common — contaminants, such as bacteria, viruses, lead, and other chemicals, can't be tasted or smelled. The water from most municipal systems in the United States is safe, because any system that serves 25 people or more is required to comply with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Your water comes from a municipal system unless you have a private well on your property or live in a rural area where a number of families share a well. The water system must test regularly for potentially harmful contaminants and alert the public if any are above acceptable limits. How Do You Know Your Syst

How Do You Know Your System Has Failed? So how do you know if it's doing what it's supposed to be doing? Water softener failure can come in a few different forms, some being much more devastating than others. Most of the time when a water softener fails it stops softening the water. When this happens you'll notice that your dishes are cloudy or that it's taking a lot more soap to suds up and get things clean. You also may notice that you're not putting as much salt in the brine tank as often you used to. That's a sure sign things are not right with your water softener system. Need service? Contact EcoWater for ANY make or model www.alaskaecowater.com Servicing Fairbanks-North Pole and Anchorage-Wasilla area. Water Filtration for Flint

Plumbers union members from across
the country install water filters in Flint
As governments still bumble in the response to the Flint water crisis, in which potentially thousands of residents of Flint, Michigan, were exposed to lead after a switch to the Flint River as a drinking water source, help is coming from some unlikely sources. ThinkProgress reports that plumbers from across the country came together this weekend to install filters and new faucets in Flint homes for free:
On Saturday, 300 plumbers from unions across the country descended on Flint to install new faucets and water filters for free.
Many Flint residents needed new faucets because their existing faucets were so old they could not accommodate water filters provided by the state. The effort was coordinated by the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry, known as the United Association. The fixtures were donated by the Plumbing Manufacturers International.
As ThinkProgress notes, this step is but one of many that needs to be taken. Filters alone can’t protect people from lead exposure, as some homes tested for levels 25 times that of the maximum filtration ability of faucet filters. However, this provides some optimism for a way forward: as the state government whose negligence led to the crisis continues to form committees and wrangle for more funding, local heroes, activists, nonprofits, and citizens across the country are pitching in to take the infrastructure steps to make Flint drinking water safe again.
